March Jam Recap
Rainy Day Turned Epic!

Macarthur Parkour march monthly jam started off cold, wet, and gloomy, but we saw an opportunity to create something truly unique.
Training parkour in the rain presents a new set of challenges, and we were excited to overcome them together. We weren’t sure how many people would brave the weather, but we made sure to send out email reminders and notify everyone in our private community chat that the event was still on.
As we set up, people started arriving one by one, and by 3 PM, our start time, we had a full house with both familiar faces and first-timers. What an incredible sight!

Kicking Off the Event
With the weather affecting everyone’s energy levels, we cranked up the tunes and got people moving with a dynamic warm-up. Before long, the park was buzzing with excitement.
To ensure safety, we started with a briefing on how to land safely in the rain, covering techniques crucial for wet surfaces. Once everyone felt confident, we jumped into our first big challenge of Macarthur Parkour - The Speed Quest.

Speed Quest: The Ultimate Test
The Speed Quest is an obstacle course race from Point A to Point B as fast as possible. We had two categories: Junior and Advanced. The primary difference was a towering wall climb that separated the two levels. For 45 minutes, the parkour park transformed into a playground of eager traceurs leaping, climbing, and refining their runs before the timed trials began.
While the participants practised, parents cheered them on from the sidelines, enjoying free cookie samples from our local partner, Tessie's Treats. Known for her gluten-free baking, Tess brought her famous loaded cookies and lava brownies, making the event even sweeter. She also generously sponsored the winners in both categories, providing discount vouchers for her store, while 1st place winners received an exclusive loaded cookie extravaganza!

With a 10-minute warning before the race began, anticipation soared. Our four parkour coaches were on-site, giving one-on-one mentorship to participants, and offering invaluable tips to improve their times.
This personalised approach set our event apart from standard workshops where large groups make direct coaching more challenging. If you want to maximise your learning, Speed Quest is the way to go!
At 4 PM, the race was officially on. Macarthur Parkour spectators took their spots, warmed up their cheers, and the first traceur launched into action. The Junior category kicked things off, with participants showcasing different styles, some opting for safety vaults, others executing speed vaults, and a few simply leaping over obstacles.
There’s no right or wrong way in parkour, only the way that works best for you.

Next, the Advanced category took to the course, but not before getting an additional 15-minute practice session. This was essential, as their course was significantly more challenging, featuring a daunting wall climb, tricky rail precision jumps, and a gap leap requiring perfect execution.
One unique element of the Advanced course was the “Touch the Red Wall” challenge, which allowed participants to find their own creative routes, an amazing display of individuality and adaptability.
To wrap up the Speed Quest, our event organisers Alexander and Jayden took on the course, soaring through it with precision and technique, demonstrating the true potential of dedicated parkour training. While their times weren’t counted towards the competition, their runs inspired everyone in attendance.

Skill Quest: Unlocking New Levels
Following the Speed Quest, we transitioned into Skill Quest, an interactive challenge tailored to the location. Participants progressed through six levels, each featuring up to ten skills to master.
Completing a skill earned them a badge of completion, and as they advanced, the challenges grew increasingly difficult. This provided traceurs with a clear understanding of their current skill level and highlighted areas for improvement in real-world parkour scenarios.
The Skill Quest continued until 6 PM, concluding with a group photo and the announcement of our Speed Quest winners.

A Community That Keeps Growing
Despite the rain, the event was a massive success, with an amazing turnout and an electric atmosphere. Seeing dedicated parents and kids show up, engage in parkour, and cheer each other on was truly heartwarming.
We were especially thrilled to welcome new families, some of whom discovered us through Facebook and were instantly hooked after trying Speed Quest with their kids. The bonding moments between parents and children practicing together were priceless, something rarely seen in other sports.
For us, Macarthur Parkour is more than just an event, it’s a growing community. Every person who attended is now part of this journey, and together, we are shaping something truly special.

Why Parkour Matters To Our Community
Parkour isn’t just about jumping and climbing; it’s about exploration, movement, and overcoming challenges. It’s a sport that engages kids in physical activity while also being social, skill-based, and fun. Most importantly, it’s for everyone, regardless of age or experience.
