Why: Inspire the next generation through safe, social, skill based movement that welcomes everyone

Setting the Scene

The date was 24 March 2025. The weather was cold and wet, yet spirits were high. We gathered at Robinson Park, Campbelltown, with music and a clear plan.

Attendance reached 60 plus participants. Parents, juniors, and advanced athletes arrived with curiosity and courage. Coaches prepared progressions for wet surfaces and safer landings.

Our mission is to inspire the next generation. The jam is a doorway into movement and community. The rain became part of the lesson, not a barrier.

What Happened

The Warm Up

We cranked the tunes and moved through a dynamic warm up. Coaches briefed everyone on wet surface awareness and safe landings. Confidence grew with each drill and each smile.

We reminded everyone, there is no single right way in parkour. Find the way that works for your body and your level. Progress comes from patience and practice.

The Speed Quest

Speed Quest is a race from Point A to Point B as fast as possible. Two categories ran, Junior and Advanced. The Advanced route added a tall wall climb, rail precisions, and a gap.

The park turned into a playground during practice. For forty five minutes athletes rehearsed routes and refined decisions. Coaches delivered one to one tips to sharpen lines and landings.

Parents cheered on the sidelines with warm drinks and big energy. Our local partner shared cookie samples that kept the vibe sweet. Thank you to Tessie’s Treats for the support.

Practice windows help athletes find efficient lines.

The Junior category launched first at 4 pm. Some used safety vaults, others used speed vaults, many opted to jump cleanly. The focus was control and flow in the conditions.

Advanced athletes had an extra fifteen minutes to rehearse. The route included a wall tag called Touch the Red Wall that invited creativity. Each runner chose a personal solution that matched their strengths.

To finish the segment our organisers Alexander and Jayden ran the line. These were inspiration laps and not counted toward results. The crowd loved the precision and technique on display.

The Skill Quest

After Speed Quest we moved into Skill Quest levels. Six levels held up to ten skills each, adapted to the park. Badges rewarded completed skills and clear progress.

The structure helps new athletes see where they stand. It highlights strengths and shows the next step to work on. Coaches keep it friendly and focused for every age.

We wrapped at 6 pm with a group photo. We announced podiums and shared more good vibes with families. A rainy day became a memory to treasure.

Advanced category podium, grit meets grace.

What We Learned

We share lessons so other parkour coaches, organisers, and creators can grow with us. The goal is safer sessions, stronger communities, and clearer pathways. Here are the takeaways we noted for future jams.

  • ✅ Wet weather can work when there is a clear landing briefing and steady supervision.
  • ✅ Short practice windows before races help beginners build confidence and reduce hesitation.
  • ✅ Personalised coaching during races accelerates learning and keeps energy high.
  • ✅ Family energy matters, parents cheering and filming lifts the vibe for juniors.
  • ❌ Long waits drain momentum, keep rotations tight and visible.
  • ❌ Overly complex routes in wet conditions slow progress, keep a clean line available.

Why It Matters

Our mission is to inspire the next generation of parkour athletes. Jams give kids and parents a place to move together in a safe space. People discover new confidence when they learn how to land and flow.

Community grows when movement is shared and celebrated. A single afternoon can change how a young person sees a simple wall. Confidence today becomes curiosity tomorrow, then mastery with time.
